The Farm History

Jannie and Heleen de Villiers live on the farm Signalberg in the Karasburg district, Namibia. The farm is situated 20 km from Grünau on the B1 road to Keetmanshoop. Turn left after 11 km on the tarred road and continue along the gravel road for 9 km. We started with our first Meatmasters in 2009 and now have almost 700 registered ewes.

My grandfather, Jan de Villiers, purchased Signalberg in 1929 and was one of the first Karakul stud breeders. The second generation was Daan and Elda and we are currently the third generation on the farm.

We are a close-knit Christian family with four daughters, two son-in-laws and four grandchildren. Elna is married to Andy Wilson, an ophthalmologist in Athens, Georgia in America. They have a little boy and two girls named Asa, Ainsley and Adalie. Elrien is married to CJ van der Schyff, a Beefmaster stud cattle farmer near Soutpan in the Free State. He also runs a feeding pen on his farm. They have a little girl named Mikali. Jana completed a BSc Agric Hons degree at the University of the Free State and is working in Pretoria. Daniel is a BSc Agric student at the University of the Free State in Bloemfontein.

The driving force behind our enterprise is our passion for farming. Our objective is to provide good-quality rams and manage our stud farm with honesty and integrity.
